Anya Deering is a longtime competitive Irish dancer and passionate writer. She has competed at the regional, national and world level, placing with distinction in many competitions. In addition to competing, she loves performing and working with other dancers. She is passionate about teaching and sharing Irish dance with the community.
Anya is originally from Seattle where she trained at Tara Academy of Irish Dance. She graduated from Pitzer College in 2017 with a degree in linguistics. She currently trains under Tasha and Julia Straszewski at the Tamora School of Irish Dance and is an editorial and social media contributor for the Irish Dancing Magazine. In 2015 she began designing custom Irish dancing dresses and waistcoats and established Premier Design by Anya Deering. Find her designs at @premierdesignofficial on Instagram.
After she completes her competitive career, Anya hopes to join a touring dance show and share her lifelong passion with future dancers and audiences worldwide. She plans to become certified to teach Irish dance professionally and intends to someday open her own school.
